Despite the lower than average snowfall, VC50 members were not deterred during the 2017/18 season..  The moment a ski trail opened, we were on it.  Early in the season some snowshoe and backcountry events were relocated to areas with greater snow depth; a good time was had by all. All the snow-dancing did seem to help!

Winter social events were very popular with the majority filled to capacity and when capacity was increased, they sold out again!

Many thanks to every winter social and sports leader.  You have done a GREAT JOB.

The launch of this new website occurred in October 2017.  The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Members renewed their memberships quickly and patiently waited for posting of winter events in December.

Thanks goes out to everyone who was involved in the new website -- it does take a village.  Members did the event write-ups, other members reviewed every word in every sentence to ensure grammar was correct and still other members reviewed the layout and provided expert input. Social and Sports event Leaders submitted their write-ups for each event, learning all the necessary details required in order to digitize event information in an attractive format.

Hats off to all the people over the years who came before us.  There are so many who brought us to where we are now.  The early folks managed the club with hardcopy mailed newsletters, phone calls to register for an event, paper/pencil lists, checks sent to event chairs that had to be deposited, and hand written event and finance reports.  Yikes, it was a full-time job!

Then, the next group took the club to another level of sophistication -- our first website and digital newsletter, then an online registration system, then an enhanced online registration system; a refined website with beautiful graphics to include a new logo, then online payment.  And even now with a further enhanced system, we are already receiving input from our "younger" online-saavy members about how to be even better.

THANK YOU to all.  You made a difference that allowed us to be where we are today.

And thanks to each and every  member for your positive attitude during the website launch and subsequent learning curve that we all experienced..  Watch for more website improvements and ease of use in the months to come to include launch of our mobile app.

The articles about VC50 in the Vail Weekly and in the Vail Daily were superb and generated high interest and increased membership.  New opportunities such as Travel/Study with Colorado Mountain College are popping up everywhere and are available for member perusal in our
Vail Valley News section of the website.

The essence of VC50 remains the same -- it is the cadre of volunteers who step up and make all of our social and sport activities a reality – every season, every year. Again many thanks to each and everyone of you who stepped up and keep stepping up to made it happen..

The Summer Social and Sports Directors and Coordinators are already busy planning summer 2018.  Watch for posting of those events in mid-May 2018.

Warm Regards,

Pat Cornett
